It is already a tradition that on 6 December, Father Christmas invited the students of our school to a 'Sweet Santa in the Library' event. The idea behind this event is to encourage students to read books; everyone who borrowed a book or books got a sweet Santa gift. On that day we broke the record for visits and borrowings, let's keep it up.

Anyone can help....
Thank you to the whole community for taking part in the action -We collect key scrap for "Alarm Clock". We collected a few kilograms of keys that we donated to the Foundation of Ewa Błaszczyk. maybe one of the keys will help to wake up a child from coma. Thanks again and welcome to the library, because there is a container for the old keys. Any time you can fill it up.

In September several new books were bought to our library. Below we present the most interesting books and we encourage everybody to read them.

New books in our library

On Saturday, 23rd September Warsaw Senior Days took place in the Polinski Park. There was a "Great Picnic for all Generations". We were also there, the students served some treats, sweets and bookmarks with interesting quotes and sentences. It was an initiative to promote reading.

Library 2016/2017

Regimen "Holiday reading"

The holidays are coming, we think that it is worthwhile to take and read a book. During the school year we often don't have time to read anything else than reading obligatory books or textbooks. That's why we have decided for the first time in the history of our school library to lend books to students organizing the action "Holiday reading" We inform that our library has bought new interesting books due to the National Readership Development Program. We recommend them to read during holidays.

NATIONAL READING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Our library participates in the National Reading Development Program in 2016-2020. The purpose of the program is to make school library collections more atractive and to strengtIn the school year 2017/2018 for the money obtained from the fund, the library will purchase books according to suggestions from students, parents and teachers. We will post information about the new books. There will be also information on projects that make reading more popular. They will be carried out with teachers and also with other libraries to encourage students to read more.

On 6th December 2016 Santa Clause invited our students to "Sweet Mikołajki in the library". The idea of this campaign was to encourage students to read books. Everybody who borrowed a book got a sweet gift. That day we broke the record of students` visits in our library.

The contest for the review of your favourite book has finished!
Among the works which were sent, the following have been awarded:
-review of Jennifer Niven book "All the bright places" - Weronika Różanska 3d
-review of Anna Jacobs book "In the shadow of the mysteries" - Alicja Stasiurka, 2a
-review of the series "Tales of the witcher" - Krystian Głuch 1e
The authors of awarded works will receive book prizes during the school Christmas celebrations and their reviews will be published in the school newspaper "Majdanka". This is the first edition of the contest, We hope to continue that competition next year.

EXHIBITION IN THE LIBRARY
There is a display of students` works in our school library with a motto "I have got talent". Everybody is welcome to visit it and we invite artists to display their works.

WELL - READ - "give a book, create a library, inspire other people" - this is a social campaign in Poland. Libraries in the hospitals, hospices and children`s home are being created. Therefore, small patients can forget about their illness. The purpose of this campaign is that every child who is in the hospital, will receive a book which can be taken home. In our school students and teachers collected 94 books.

On 27th March 2015, the International Day of Theatre a meeting with actor Andrzej Nejman, director of Kwadrat Theatre took place in Central Military Library.
About 100 guests attended, in that a lot of students from Warsaw Secondary Schools. There were 4 students Ig1 from our school. All guests were listening to interview with the actor, known for many film and theatre roles. He recalled his school days and the beginnings of acting career.

The 11th of February 2015 students of our school took part in an interesting and instructive presentation of two-volume monograph "Westerplatte" by dr Andrzej Drzycimski.
During that presentation the writer and other historians were discussing the history of Westerplatte.
There was also a film projection "Westerplatte", directed by S.Różewicz.

"Culinaries" at the Library

"Write a book"

It is a title of a new book written by Zbigniew Buczkowski which he promoted on a meeting in the Central Military Library. It took place on Friday the 12th of December at 12 o`clock.

The librarians,employees of the Central Military Library and students took part in the meeting. There were students from our school:Kasia Suchodolska, Sylwia Szyszka and Jakub Czernecki.

The actor was talking about his personal life and his job. He quoted parts of his novel and some episods of his films were shown as well. He answered all the questions as far as his actor career is cocerned. There was a possibility of buying his book and getting his authograph.

Course of action:
• This competiton is about giving correct answers to the questions which will be appearing on our website as well as on the school paper next to the library.
• Each week a new question will appear.
• Correct answers with your name and surname should be sent to: Jestemerudyta@wp.pl within 6 days from the appearance of a question
• For each correct answer you will be given 1 point.
• Correct answers will be published on the day of the new question appearing.
• The winner will be the person to send the highest number of correct answers
• In case of similar score, time of sending will be deciding.
• The publishing of results will take place on the website and the in the library
• For winners, books and good grades are waiting!
