PEDAGOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT
From 1st September 2012 The Regulation of the Minister of National Education dated on 17th November 2010 concerning the rules of providing psychological and pedagogical support in state kindergartens, schools and centres.
It determines the rules on basis of which the school will support a student with special educational needs:
- permanent
- temporary
- and conduct support activities documentation.
Psychological and pedagogical support in schools will involve:
- determining psychophysical abilities,
- determining and ensuring individual needs connected with students’ development and education, caused mainly by:
1. Disabilities
2. Social maladjustment
3. Dangers of social maladjustment
4. Specific learning difficulties
5. Chronic diseases
6. Language communication disorders
7. Special talents
8. Critical situations
9. Social negligence
Who provides psychological and pedagogical support ?
The psychological and pedagogical support is provided by: teachers, class teachers and specialists (psychologists, pedagogues, speech specialists and vocational advisors) cooperating with:
- parents,
- psychological and pedagogical centres including specialists centres,
- other schools and educational centres,
- Non-governmental organizations and other institutions supporting family and youth.
Psychological and pedagogical support is provided at the request of:
- student,
- parents,
- teacher, class teacher or specialist conducting classes with the student
- psychological and pedagogical centre, including specialists’ centres.
At school the psychological and pedagogical support is organised and provided in forms of:
- classes for gifted students,
- excelatory classes,
- special needs classes: sociotheraphy and other therapeutic classes,
- vocational advisory classes,
- counselling.
Team of specialists:
- Determines the scope of psychological and pedagogical support considering individual student’s needs.
- Determines the recommended forms, ways and time period of psychological and pedagogical support.
- The team of specialists keeps the record of the Card of Student’s Individual needs.
In our school The Cards have already been implemented.
The Headmaster of the school by means of class teachers informs students’ parents about the forms, ways and time periods of psychological and pedagogical support and about the timetable of the classes.
This information is conveyed by means of students’ registers.
First class students’ parents are requested to hand in the documents from The Psychological and Pedagogical Centres while applying to our school or early in September in order to enable psychological and pedagogical support since the beginning of the school year.
Pedagogue’s responsibilities:
- helping students to eliminate psychological tensions stemming from educational failures,
- preventing social maladjustment,
- organising different forms of therapies for students with symptoms of social maladjustment,
- learning about living conditions of students with symptoms of social maladjustment,
- learning about living conditions of students with learning difficulties in cooperation with class teachers,
- career counselling concerning further education,
- parents’ counselling,
- organizing help and financial support for socially neglected students,
- forwarding socially neglected students to care and educational institutions,
- coordinating school activities concerning prevention of education, health and addiction hazards,
- keeping records of educational situation at school on regular basis.
Psychological and Pedagogical Centre no 16 in Warsaw at 40 Siennicka St. takes care of our students.
Counselling and activities are free of charge. The Centre conducts among others: psychological education, vocational counselling, family therapies, behavioral and cognitive therapies.
